Competence Center Miscanthus (CCM)

The Competence Center Miscanthus (CCM) is pursuing the goal of energy production from biomass to further accelerate and establish new raw plant materials as major sources of raw materials in Europe.

Currently, there are several dedicated, highly interesting research projects and experiments running across Europe to ascertain its recycling possibilities.

Miscanthus is a sterile, triploid grass, with a C4 photosynthetic mechanism, that has various characteristics, making it valuable as an energy supplier, as well as a building, sound proofing and insulation material.
Miscanthus (sinensis) giganteus, was originally native to China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Through its habitat requirements, it has found its way into the European Union, where it is used as a commercial energy crop.

The Competence Center supports research, development, optimization, drawing up effective logistics strategies, along with the design and implementation of required training mechanisms.

The CCM also offers targeted public relations, promoting the crop’s benefits and related opportunities.
